Core-Flex Athletic Conditioning is a PILATES based method improving MOBILITY, CORE STABILITY, FLEXIBILITY.
This is a ‘flexible strength’ workout, focused on the pliability of muscles, while maintaining their explosive contractile ability needed for sport. Improved mobility at all joints allows for greater range of motion, a well functioning kinetic chain, and increased ability to produce power. CoreFlex training is a smart maintenance system addressing points of pain & tightness, imbalances from repetitive sport biomechanics, and dysfunctional movement patterns. The CORE-FLEX SYSTEM:
1) Postural assessment and Functional Movement Screen (FMS & Y-Balance)
2) Foundational principles of spine/pelvis/neck/scapula neutral alignment and teaching of deep core engagement
3) Customized exercise prescription for the Athlete. One on One training specific to the Athlete's needs/imbalances/injuries/goals. Training can be scheduled 1-2X/week to compliment strength & cardio workouts (off season)/practice & game schedule (in season)
*small group training available (2-4 athletes with similar goals
4) Maintenance exercises assigned to the Athlete to add to their current warm-up/cool-down/recovery regime
5) Ongoing consulting in person or via technology. Should the Athlete sustain a new injury, continued consulting and supporting rehab exercises will be provided (with permission from the Athlete's medical/therapy/S&C team)
6) Group workouts for Athlete's collegues/team upon request

Colleen Manning has been in the fitness industry for over 25 years, and has a passion for movement, biomechanics, athletics, & improving how bodies move. She is currently the Director of Performance and Fitness with the Red Deer Rebels (WHL). Having a foundation of knowledge in a Kinesiology degree from University of Alberta, NCCP Coaching certification in gymnastics, Pilates certification, JOGA training, FMS & Y-Balance Screen certified, along with various athletic training & fitness certifications, all complimenting how she assesses and trains individuals. She is currently a online student at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. Colleen is continually learning and training to understand more in how the body moves and functions - physically, mentally, & emotionally intertwined.
Colleen, a core specialist and movement coach, individualizes Core-Flex conditioning for each athlete's personal needs. She takes into consideration sport/injury history, sport specific needs, the athlete's movement patterns and posture, as well as the individual's performance goals. Colleen owns and operates Studio Pilates Fitness & Wellness, and is Director of Performance and Fitness for the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League. Colleen plans and run the Rebels' strength and conditioning workouts as well as injury prevention and recovery workouts. |
