ROCK THE AGES is a program to hit hormonal changes head on with resistance training, heart healthy exercise, and mood boosting activity.
Hormonal shifts can cause some unpleasant changes in our bodies and the BEST thing we can do to manage and adapt to these changes, is to be proactive, stay positive, and invest time into our health...physical & mental health. Some symptoms of hormonal change (perimenopause/menopause) include disrupted sleep, weight gain, atrophy (loss) of muscle, depletion of bone density, weakened connective tissue (ligaments/tendons), fatigue, mood swings & depression, hot flashes, brain fog, and many more symptoms. Many women feel a loss of control over their body and frustration as they "feel different" in their own skin. Perimenopause/menopause is a natural and unavoidable season in life, and exercise, especially resistance exercise, is necessary to combat some of the side effects.
ROCK THE AGES is an opportunity to have a regularly scheduled workout, twice a week, in a supportive group setting with people who are like minded, non-judgemental, and in the same boat!Beyond the incredible, balanced, safe workouts, you'll belong to a community, and receive extra education on lifestyle factors. This program will improve your physical, mental, and social health. We encourage joining the in person workouts at the Studio on Monday and Wednesday mornings, but we understand that an in person group may not be ideal for everyone... for that reason we are inviting you to join us virtually from home for the workouts if you prefer a more private setting or if that is a better fit for your schedule.
ALL fitness levels are welcome in this registered program. YOU will choose your weights, bands, balls, and you can always choose to use no weights for certain exercises! We are experts in providing options for every exercise, so that everyone in the room is honoring their own body and feels successful. If you have any issues in your tissues or joints (such as a knee, hip, shoulder, back issue), we will also provide options and "work arounds" to keep you moving and working within your ability. Your responsibility will be to SHOW UP, and we will do the rest. We've all heard the advice to "lift weights", "strength train", or "resistance train" (that all means the same thing by the way!)...but how do you start? Or how do you know how many reps and what exercises to do? This program will guide you through the exercises, the reps, the options, and focus on your FORM.. quality, effective movements! Your CEO's (Chief Energy Organizers) for this program will be Char Andrew on Mondays and Callie Egener on Wednesdays. These CEO's are educated, experienced, passionate about movement & health, and they are FUN! They will create an inclusive, light hearted environment for the magic of group movement.
