COVID 19 INFORMATION & PROCEDURES AT STUDIO PILATES
June 12 marked the launch of Stage 2 in the Re-Opening Strategy of Alberta Businesses. WE RE-OPENED JUNE 14, 2020 AFTER 90 DAYS OF FORCED CLOSURE
For detailed information from the Government of Alberta regarding the guidelines for RETURN TO SPORT, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, & RECREATION please click HERE
With the dedication of many members through continued membership payments, merchandise purchases, and the gaining of some NEW virtual members, we are fortunate enough to come through this health crisis. THANK YOU to each of you who were able to support our small business and invest in your 'home for health'. Your Studio Pilates team welcomes you back.
Things will look and feel a little different when you come back, but we guarantee the same stellar fitness experience and attention to your health.
Your safety, and the safely of our SP team is priority. You'll find some small twists on the class schedule and new expectations around disinfecting and social distancing.
With reduced class sizes, to ensure safe physical distancing, we understand there is a valid concern about getting into the classes you want. In order for us to offer more classes in the prime time fitness windows of the day, AND allow time gaps between classes for proper disinfecting of the floors, equipment, & high touch surfaces, classes are now 50 minutes. (some classes on our schedule have always been 45 minutes and you will still see those!) As we all adjust to this new rhythm, we ask that you limit to signing up to no more than one class per day, as we need to fairly distribute class spots to all members.
We understand that our childminding service is essential for many of you to be able to come to classes. Reduced class numbers and the staggering of class times results in less children in childminding. Please see below for more details about how childminding will operate to keep your children safe.
UNLIMITED MEMBERS WHO PAID IN FULL FOR THEIR FITNESS MEMBERSHIP AND CHOSE TO SUSPEND DURING CLOSURE If you have an unlimited fitness membership that you paid for in full (1 mo, 3 mo, 6 mo, 12 mo) and you asked for it to be put on hold during the Covid 19 closure, we will be reactivating your membership on our re-opening date of June 13, 2020 and extending your expiry date to reflect our 90 days of closure. You will be able to sign up for classes online immediately.
EASY PAY UNLIMITED MEMBERS WHO CHOSE TO SUSPEND MONTHLY PAYMENTS DURING COVID 19 CLOSURE For Easy Pay Members with Unlimited Fitness Memberships - if you chose to suspend your monthly membership dues during the Covid 19 closure, payments will be re-activated and will resume on your regular payment date. You will be able to sign up for classes online immediately.
EASY PAY MEMBERS WHO CONTINUED TO PAY MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP DURING CLOSURE THANK YOU for your continued support through this pandemic. You can sign up for classes online immediately. Watch for an announcment in the closed facebook group very soon!
REOPENING - GENERAL We're ready to disinfect, social distance, and use common sense. Are you?
We will be using Spray 9 for disinfecting equipment. Mr Clean, Pine Sol, and Lysol for cleaning high touch surfaces, and some equipment. Bleach is used for disinfecting toys and always has been since the day we opened.
If you have ANY symptoms of being unwell, STAY HOME. If your child has symptoms and appears to be unwell, do not bring them to childminding.
Our staff will do a daily health screen upon arriving at work. You will see the receptionist and childminders wearing masks. Extra staff dedicated to cleaning have been hired.
We have always been sticklers for clean, and we've just upped our game. Studio Pilates has always had a strict cleaning schedule and we have increased the frequency and added more detail.
THE BEST PREVENTION OF THE SPREAD OF COVID 19 AND OTHER VIRUSES, IS TO WASH YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY AND AVOID TOUCHING YOUR FACE.
REOPENING INFO FOR GROUP FITNESS AND PILATES CLASSES You will have a workout station when you arrive. Your instructor will have your equipment set up for you with appropriately measured physical distance in place. Please bring minimal extra clothing and jackets with you and refrain from congregating in the lobby. The new culture will look like this:
-If you have children to take to childminding, enter the studio no more than 10 min prior to class.
-If you do NOT have children to bring, enter the studio no more than 5 min prior to class.
-The pilates machines are safely distanced, and as always only a max of 7 participants are in each apparatus class. MAT classes will now only have max of 7 as well.
-The Reformer Straps are cloth - Stott Pilates has developed a vinyl strap cover that can be disinfected. and we have these vinyl straps on all the machines.
-BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE (label with your name) The water fountain is off limits for the time being so you'll need to bring your own! Bottled water is available for $1 at reception

-overhead fans and portable fans will not be used for the time being until guidelines change from the Gov't of AB
we are a PARFUME / SCENT FREE facility...please refrain from wearing any kind of scent when coming to your workout to prevent other members from sneezing, coughing, or suffering headache from a scent that may irritate them
-You MUST sign up for classes online in advance so we can manage class numbers as well as have a record of who has been in the studio. This is part of our emergency plan, should a COVID case be tracked to the studio. We would use the class rosters for contacts to inform to be tested.
-As always, we have contactless check in. Our Receptionist or your instructor will check you in for class as you arrive
-Hand sanitizer is located at the entrance to each room. Please use hand sanitizer upon entering AND upon exiting the room. Feel free to bring your own sanitizer if you have a preferred brand
-The workout stations will be clearly marked in the fitness studios. Please go directly to your station after dropping your belongings on the hooks/cubbies. If you're coming to a spin class, you can keep your belongings behind your bike. If you need to change the weights that you've been set up with at your station, do so swiftly while maintaining physical distance from others
-Each workout station will have it's own spray bottle. Please wipe down all your equipment after class and LEAVE IT AT YOUR STATION. Your cleaning rag can be dropped in the laundry hampers provided as these will be washed after each use
-Studio Pilates staff will do a thorough disinfecting regime after members have left the building which will include high touch surfaces, equipment, and the floor
-Unfortunately coffee will not be served for the time being and we ask that you avoid congregating in the reception area. Please be mindful of physical distancing at all times while in the studio. Respect other's space and be patient while we all navigate the new societal rules
-If you choose to wear a mask or gloves into the studio you're more than welcome although it's not safe to exercise with a mask on - Showers are currently off limits
REOPENING INFO FOR CHILDMINDING Young children don't understand social distancing so we have to do our best to keep them clean, and keep their play spaces disinfected. Here is what we're doing to protect your children: -Our class sizes are reduced and we have less overlapping classes. This will greatly reduce the number of children in the Boom Boom Room at one time.
-Class duration has been reduced to 45-50 min classes so children will spend less time in the Boom Boom Room
-Childminding staff will wear masks
-It will be mandatory to hand sanitize your children's hands on the way into the boom boom room, and as they exit (not infants)
-If your child shows any symptoms of being unwell, you will be asked to take them home
-Our childminding space has always passed provincial health inspections. We've always have a cleaning schedule and predictable procedures for cleaning the toys. This has now been heightened and all toys/objects that are not able to be disinfected have been removed from the room. Only toys that can be immersed in disinfecting products are left in the room.
-Footprints will be on the floor to encourage children to play away from each other. Play 'stations' have been planned to encourage kids to distance themselves at the 'station'
-Each group of children that comes to play (per fitness class) will have a bin of disinfected toys to choose from. At the end of the fitness class, those toys are put back into the bin and thoroughly cleaned. The next group of kids coming in (next fitness class) have a different bin of disinfected toys to play with. This allows us to control what is touched in the room.
-when dropping off and picking up your children we ask that you sign in/out as per usual but do not enter the Boom Boom Room with your child. Send them in and at the end of your class we will bring them to you at the door. If other moms/dads are dropping off/picking up, please be patient and allow for distancing while waiting in the hall outside the Boom Boom Room.
