Back pain is a common issue that stems from many different causes. You may be suffering daily from pain in your back, neck, and hips due to repetitive faulty posture from a desk job or from a profession that requires strenuous physical labour. Or maybe you're suffering from the aftermath of an injury or accident, and can't participate in daily activities like you used to. Back pain can also be caused by chronic conditions such as arthritis, degenerative spine, or sciatica.
Wherever you're at, we are here to help you rebuild your strength and mobility. PILATES is active therapy, meaning YOU are doing the mind-to-muscle work to retrain neuromuscular patterns, gain strength, and improve function of the body. The BETTER BACKS - CORE CONDITIONING PROGRAM involves two private lessons, followed by 4 small group lessons. Your specific needs will be respected and exercise choice will be appropriate for your injury/condition.
THE PROGRAM: 6 WEEKS OF CORE STRENGTHENING, JOINT MOBILIZATION, & STRETCHING
1) PRIVATE TRAINING APPOINTMENTS - Begin with one on one training with a certified pilates instructor. You will learn the foundation of neutral posture and how to engage deep core muscles. We will learn about your history, your goals, and current movement ability. You will have two (1 hour) appointments with your instructor.
2) REINFORCING THE PRINCIPLES - Next you'll be sent videos of foundational exercises to practice core engagement, neutral alignment, and 'back breathing' at home.
3) SMALL GROUP TRAINING - You'll attend a weekly class for six weeks. A group will have a small number of participants to ensure quality movement and individual attention. The class will involve essential exercises to strengthen the deep core muscles, activate postural muscles, and stretch tight tissues. Exercises will be focused on joint range of motion, correct movement patterns and releasing tension. Variations of each exercise will be offered to ensure success for everyone in the group.
4) BONUS CLASSES - You'll have access to additional bonus fitness classes, should you choose to try an additional workout such as mat pilates, yoga, essentrics, spin, and more! Choose from over 30 classes per week offered at Studio Pilates in addition to your BETTER BACKS & HIPS class.
